Cross country to take on NCAA Regional

LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron men’s and women’s cross country teams will face off against the rest of the South Central Region on Saturday, as they run in the NCAA Regional Meet in Denver, Colo.

The Aggies are coming off of a trip to the Lone Star Conference Championship where the men placed third, their best finish at the conference race in program history, while the women placed sixth in their first ever league championship race.

James Majenge came out of the men’s race as the individual champion and the LSC’s Newcomer of the Year, running a time of 25:17.20, a full 15 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Felix Nadeborn also placed in the top-15, earning All-LSC honors.

In the women’s race, Edna Cheptum was the top finisher for the Black and Gold, running a time of 23:46.90 and placing 12th to also be named All-LSC.

The Aggies will run against teams from the Lone Star, Heartland, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conferences with the men’s 10K race starting at 10:30 a.m. (MT) and the women’s 6K to follow at 11:45 a.m. (MT).

Of all the teams running on Saturday, the top-3 teams in the regional race will qualify automatically for Nationals, while the top-2 individual runners from non-qualifying teams qualify automatically, as does any individual from a non-qualifying team that finishes in the top-5 overall.

The top-25 individual runners in each race will be named to the All-South Central Region Team.
