LAWTON – The Cameron men and women’s cross country teams open the 2020 season with the Aggie Duels on Friday morning.
Race Information:
The Aggie Duels will take place at the Big Green Soccer Complex located at 144 SW Lee Blvd in Lawton, Okla. Cameron will be competing against Redlands College in both races with the women running their 5K race at 8 a.m. and the men following with an 8K at 8:25 a.m. Results will be posted on cameronaggies.com as soon as possible after each race.
Cameron Men’s Cross Country:
The CU men enter the 2020 fall season picked to finish third in a tough Lone Star Conference. They are replacing a strong senior group, but head coach Zach Johnson has high expectations for Eduardo Gutierrez and Loic Rossignaud, both of which finished in the top-10 at last season’s Aggie Duels. Cameron will also look for returners Chris Dunn and Dereck Adames and newcomers Nino Heluin and Saulo Yoel to perform well during their first tune-up for the LSC Championship.
Cameron Women’s Cross Country:
Cameron’s women run into the new season ranked seventh in the league preseason poll. In the third year of the program’s existence, CU has a strong group of returners that include senior Edna Cheptum and junior Keyanna Patterson. For the Aggies to take the next step, Johnson will need breakout performances from Jessica Parnell, Violet Torres, and Alejandra Collier among others.
COVID-19 Precautions:
Both teams will be temperature and symptom checked before competing. Following local regulations, spectators are allowed, with social distancing and masks required while at the complex.
