INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Cameron men’s cross country student-athlete James Majenge was named a qualifier for the 2019 NCAA Division II Championships on Monday.

Majenge was a second place finisher at the Lone Star conference Championship and then placed 13th at the South Central Regional this past weekend. The CU senior did not automatically qualify for the National Championship but was selected as an at-large big by the NCAA on Monday thanks to his performance throughout the season.

After finishing in the top-15 of the regional, Majenge was also officially named to the All-South Central Region team on Monday. He is CU’s first all-region selection and participant in the DII Cross Country Championship since 2014.

In order to be eligible to participate in the championships, teams and individuals had to qualify in their respective NCAA regional competitions that were held this past weekend.

Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process.

The championships will be held Nov. 23 in Sacramento, California, at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course (at Haggin Oaks). California State University, Sacramento and the Sacramento Sports Commission will serve as hosts. The women’s race will begin at 12 p.m. (CT), followed by the men’s race at 1:15 p.m. (CT).
