RICHARDSON, Texas – Cameron’s Pierre Marion claimed the Aggie tennis program’s first Lone Star Conference weekly honor of the spring as he was honored for his 3-1 record last weekend.

Marion, who was named the LSC’s Men’s Tennis Player of the Week on Thursday, did his job in the Aggies’ 1-1 week against No. 20 Drury and Washburn to open the spring last weekend. The sophomore won both of his singles matches in three sets, defeating his Panther opponent 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 and then his opponent from WU 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 the next night.

Playing at No. 1 doubles with partner Julen Gutierrez, Marion suffered a hard-fought 7-6 loss to Drury’s No. 1 pairing before defeating WU’s top duo 6-4 the next day.

In 2019, the Valognes, France native went 19-2 in singles play as a freshman, playing a majority of his matches at the No. 6 spot. Marion also compiled a 15-5 record playing with Oscar del Granado, with 14 of those wins coming in the three doubles position.

Marion and the Cameron men will be in action on Friday, Feb. 14, for their first home match of the spring. They will host Seward County CC with the match scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Streich-Henry Family Tennis Complex.
