LAWTON, Okla. — Cameron University volleyball head coach Tatiana Booth has announced the signing of Skiatook, Okla. standout Kendyl Payne to be a part of the 2019 squad.

Payne, a 6-0 middle, was a four year varsity starter at Skiatook HS, and helped her team qualify for state three years in a row. She was also named to multiple all-tournament teams, the Northeastern Oklahoma All-VYPE Team, was a three time All-Metro player and was All-World honorable mention.

“I’m excited Kendyl is joining our team,” said Coach Booth. “She is a physical tall player that helps us replace our talented middles from the past two seasons.”

Payne will fill look to fill in where seniors Brandy Carr and Ashleigh McFatridge made such an impact in just two seasons while playing for the Black and Gold. Coach Booth speaks highly of her work ethic and willingness to take coaching.

“When Kendyl tried out last summer she was very open to our tweaks and was willing to do whatever we asked of her. She is a hard worker and getting to know her and her parents along the recruiting journey was enjoyable. She will do great things in our program.”

Like many recruits before her, Payne lists Booth as one of the reasons she choose to commit to play at Cameron.

“One of the reasons I chose Cameron was because while I was visiting campus it felt like home,” said Payne. “I am from a small town and the thought of coming to a bigger city made me anxious, but choosing Cameron feels right. For me though, the major deciding factor was Coach Booth. I knew immediately that she was going to be the best coach or me. I can’t wait to come to Cameron and begin my volleyball career next fall.”

The Aggies will graduate seven seniors from this past season’s squad, meaning Payne is the first of many new additions for the 2019 team.
