RICHARDSON, Texas — The Lone Star Conference cross country weekly awards were released on Thursday, and CU freshman Valeria Villatoro claimed her third honor of the season.

The St. Cloud, Fla. native was named the LSC’s Female Freshman Runner of the Week after placing fifth at the LSC Preview Meet last Saturday. Villatoro ran a time of 23:45.47 in her first 6,000 meter race of the season, and helped CU finish in second with her third top-10 finish of the year.

Cameron’s freshman was also named the Freshman Female Runner of the Week on Oct. 11 after finishing in 22nd at the tough OBU Invitational and on Sep. 13 when she placed seventh at the SWOSU Invitational.

CU’s program as a whole has claimed eight weekly honors in 2018, as Villatoro has won three, Edna Cheptum two, and James Majenge, Dereck Adames, and Sam Averill each have one honor.

The Aggies will put their talent on display on Nov. 3 as they compete against the rest of the Lone Star Conference at the league championship in Canyon, Texas.
