Majenge, Kipkorir pace CU to LSC Preview win

CANYON, Texas – The Cameron University men’s cross country team claimed their third first place finish of the season as they had the top time at the Lone Star Conference Preseason Meet on Saturday.

Final Results

As a team, the Aggies finished their fourth race of the season with a total time of 2:15.08.67, averaging a pace of 27:01.74. Their time was a full minute ahead of the second place UT Permian Basin Falcons.

Leading the pack was James Majenge, who continues to dominate with his fourth straight first place finish of the season. The junior ran a time of 25:53.19 in the 8K race and was a minute ahead of his teammate Roy Kipkorir who finished in second for the second time this season.

Celso Ramirez and Felix Nadeborn were also top-10 finishers, as Ramirez placed fifth with a time of 27:17.16 and Nadeborn came in ninth with a time of 27:30.07. Additionally, Eduardo Gutierrez placed 13th, Dereck Adames and Steffen Riestenpattfinished back-to-back in 16th and 17th, and Mark Medina was also a top-20 finisher with a time of 29:13.83.

Behind CU and UTPB, was Lubbock Christian in third and Eastern New Mexico in fourth. Runners from West Texas A&M competed, but they did not compete as a team.

Next up for the Aggies will be the LSC Championship race which will take place in Canyon as well on Nov. 3.
