Aggie runners set for LSC Preview Meet

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron University men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to face off against some conference foes, as they run at the Lone Star Conference Preview Meet this Saturday in Canyon, Texas.

The LSC Preview will be CU’s last tune-up before the league championship race, which will also take place in Canyon, Texas on Nov. 3. The meet will consist of runners from Cameron, West Texas A&M, UT Permian Basin, Eastern New Mexico, and Lubbock Christian. The women’s 6K meter race is scheduled for 9 a.m., while the men’s 8K will follow at 9:45 a.m.

The Cameron men are coming off of a fourth place finish at the loaded Oklahoma Baptist Invitational two weeks ago. James Majenge placed first individually for the third straight race with a time of 25:20.47. Roy Kipkorir was also a top-10 finisher, placing seventh with a 26:28.25 time.

CU’s women placed fifth in a field that included top-25 ranked OBU at the same race. Edna Cheptum finished in 12th place individually, running a time of 19:18.94. Freshman Valeria Villatoro also finished with a sub 20 minute time, placing 22nd in the race. The  two were recognized for their strong  races by being named the LSC’s Female Runner  of the  Week and the Female Freshman Runner of  the Week on Oct. 11.
