NEW GENEALOGY RESEARCH GROUP FORMING
Gathering once a month in the Family History Room of the Lawton Public Library, this is an informal group of genealogy enthusiasts coming together to help each other with brick walls and other family history research. The group’s host will also be able to aid participants with newspaper research, Ancestry.com, DNA results, and patriot lineage society applications.
SWOGS members will be on hand to show beginners how to start researching their own family history. Bring what family information you know to start your family tree. Family group sheets and pedigree charts are available for you at the library.
Free Wi-Fi, if you wish to bring your laptop. Ancestry.com, FamilySearch.org, Fold3, and other genealogy programs and websites are available on the Family History Room’s computer workstations.
Come and go as you wish between 2 and 4 pm on the following dates: March 20, April 17, May 22, and June 19.
The Family History Room collection consists of over 26,000 books and periodicals, 150,000 microfiche, and 6,000 rolls of microfilm. It includes all Federal census schedules, local and area newspapers from 1901, Indian-Pioneer History Collection, Dawes Rolls, military records, family histories, vital records, Oklahoma Tract Books with surname index, research reference aids, and so much more.
